Villa de Leyva is a wonderful place where you can drive from Bogotá.
Then you can take the road to Tunja. Hiking to the Iguaque lagoon is a healthy
contact with nature. It is recommended to bring clothes for the cold weather,
rubber boots and snacks for the road. If you want to be closer to nature you could go to the Animal Farm
where children can interact with some animals. If you are a religious person
then you will
attend a Mass in the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, where you will meet many people
from different departments.
In Villa de Leyva you could stay in a very
important hotels and cabins. From the hammock of the outside terrace of your
hotel or cabin you can
look at the details of the garden, such as butterflies, caterpillars, beetles

the municipal market to eat prawns and shrimp in citrus, with a black bisque
and creamy cilantro rice; or the duck with chorizo glazed in blackberries. But
if you want something international, the Turkish restaurant can offer grains of
wheat with chicken and consommé slices, lentil rice, with a skewer of meat, sea
bass bathed in tahini sauce, almonds and fried onions.
Villa de Leyva could
be the most beautiful town Boyacá and it has many pleasant places to see or
visit, sites worthy of interest for visitors, imposing monuments and the
history of Villa de Leyva. You can visit the streets, the square and the churches
of the historic center and appreciate the colonial houses with their balconies.
You should visit the Antonio Nariño Museum and know a little about the history
of Colombia. But if you want more excitement then you will go to Terracota
house.
El lomito del
altiplano is the best dish in the region. In Villa de Leyva you can taste
snacks like almojábanas and pandeyucas; the mute of cheese and the changua,
which is prepared with milk, eggs, cilantro and onion. The soup of tripe is
made from the stomach of the cow and is a delicacy for tourists. In Villa de
Leyva you can taste a cup of chocolate with cheese. Come and enjoy the typical
foods of this heavenly place.
